Agadir Beach
Agadir is Morocco's premier coastal resort, so it's no surprise that the city's glorious beach is a highlight for many. There's a beautiful crescent bay of golden sand ready and waiting for you here; it's 10km long, so you'll have lots of space to stretch out and soak up the North African sunshine.
Unlike other destinations on the North African Atlantic, Agadir beach is sheltered from winds that sweep over the ocean, although there's still a nice cool breeze to stop the high summer temperatures from getting too uncomfortable. If you want a little bit of extra comfort, you can grab a sunlounger or take shade under a parasol. The city authorities ensure the beach is kept clean and tidy at all times.
And in the peak summer months, there's a lifeguard on duty Kids will love Agadir beach, but there can be a strong undertow here. So it's worth sticking to the hotel pool if you fancy a swim with the little ones. There are also a couple of parks in the heart of town; the playgrounds in Vallée des Oiseaux and Jardins de Olh ão are good fun.
Things to do on Agadir beach
If you fancy a change of pace, you'll find plenty of other things to do here at Agadir beach. How about trying your hand at watersports? Water-skiing, surfing and boating are just some of the activities on offer here. And you'll also find quad bikes and dune buggies, while the little ones will love taking a ride on the tourist train.
Back on dry land, you can take a leisurely stroll down the paved seafront promenade and you'll find lots of buzzy cafés. And there are plenty of restaurants serving up traditional Moroccan specialties. After a hard day's relaxing, you can grab a spot on the terrace and watch the sun go down.
What about other Agadir beaches?
If you want to venture out for the day, you'll also find other Agadir beaches to the north and south of the city. Taghazout is around 15km north from here about a 20-minute drive away, and it's got fantastic waves that attract surfers from all over the world. Just a couple of kilometres south you'll come across Tamraght Beach, which is also a popular spot for surfers. You'll find plenty of surf schools here to teach you how to hang ten (or just stand up!), plus a handful of laid-back bars and cafés where you can refuel.
Head 25km south from Agadir and you'll discover Kilometre 25 Beach. It's perfect if you're seeking an uncrowded, off-the-radar spot away from the crowds.
